KWSS-LP, licensed to Scottsdale, Arizona, on 93.9 FM, and its sister station KWSQ-LP, licensed to Mesa, Arizona, on 99.5 FM, are a pair of non-commercial, community radio stations. The stations simulcast their signal and also use a translator on 92.3 FM, expanding their reach across the greater Phoenix area. Known as “Independent Radio,” their format is a mix of alternative and indie rock. As a community station, they provide a platform for local voices and music that is often overlooked by mainstream radio. Their programming includes a variety of specialized shows such as The KWSS Retro Radio Hour and The Monday Local with Licia Torres.
