It also holds the distinction of being Interior Alaska’s first FM station.
KUAC FM offers a diverse range of public radio programming, primarily from National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI), and American Public Media. The station maintains a strong commitment to its roots by programming numerous multi-hour blocks of classical and jazz music. It also features programs focusing on more modern genres such as Afropop Worldwide and World Cafe. A significant portion of its content is locally originated, produced by an extensive pool of volunteers, especially during evenings and weekends. Some popular programs listeners can tune into include “Alaska Live,” featuring local artists, “Northern Soundings,” and “Beyond The Weather,” which provides discussions on climate and local conditions.
