Many football fans do not consider kickers as football players. Field goal kickers rarely miss and are routinely kicking field goals of 50 + yards. Rarely do we see a kickoff or punt returned for touchdowns.
I suggest doing away with kicking. If the coin toss winner elects to start on offence, they begin on the 35 yard line. No punting, you get 4 downs for a first down. If you fail to make a forst down, the other team takes over from there. If you score, the extra point starts at the 7 yard line and you get you 2 chances to cross the goal line for 1 point. The next team starts at the 35 yard line. During the last 2 minutes of the game, the offense gets 5 tries one time to keep the ball.
